Bill Ritchie, owner of EDM Arms, has been making firearms
and firearm parts for over 10 years. In 1990, he built his Omni .50,
a single-action .50 Cal. BMG rifle for competition shooting. It was then,
too, that he joined the FCSA (Fifty Caliber Shooting Association) and
started shooting the
Omni .50 regularly at FCSA competitions. There were
100 Omni .50 units made. (It is noteworthy to mention that the Omni .50 is
the single-shot predecessor to the Wind Runner XM-107
Tactical,
Bill's latest engineering creation).
EDM Arms manufactures firearms in its modern facility in Redlands Southern California, housing the latest
technologies in Wire (Electrical Discharge) and CNC (Computer Numerically
Controlled) Machining. Bill owned
and operated Omni Tool and Die since 1979 before changing its name
to EDM Arms in 1997. In 1995 he also manufactured firearm receivers in
various calibers, from .17 through .308 calibers.
Bill has traveled all over the world - Middle East,
Europe, and the Far East - to promote his products.
Starting in 1997 (still in progress), EDM Arms
participated in
the Army's solicitation for a new compact Sniper Rifle in .50 Cal. BMG.
EDM Arms finished second in this (non-shooting, rather marketing)
competition, behind Barrett. That is when the Wind Runner XM-107
designation came to being. EDM Arms continues to promote the Wind Runner
to the Army, Navy, and other defense services, believing that it is
tactically superior to the Barrett XM-107.
